This piece is a part of my Songs series that I have been working on since September 2019. It was written for the KonstruCt project to be performed specifically in Orgelpark in Amsterdam, which is reflected in the instrumentation. Like all the pieces of the series, Up to Fifteen Songs focuses on an intuitive and indivisible sensation of time. By constantly redistributing temporal authority among musicians, as well as depriving them of usual means of time-tracking, a highly precarious situation is created. The translation between one’s immediate memory and reaction breaks, widening the gap between what just happened and what is about to happen.
